The US Open 2025, the year’s final Grand Slam, concluded with Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz defeating long-time rival Jannik Sinner in four sets at Arthur Ashe Stadium to claim the title.
At just 22 years old, Carlos Alcaraz has already secured six Grand Slam titles, cementing his status as one of the brightest stars in modern tennis. With this victory, Alcaraz also regained the world No. 1 spot in the ATP rankings. Celebrating his compatriot’s achievement, tennis legend Rafael Nadal showered praise on the youngster.
“He’s building a remarkable career. We’ve known for years that he’s a special player, but time keeps proving it. What was already extraordinary is becoming even greater,” Nadal said during a charity golf tournament.
Nadal highlighted Alcaraz’s promising future:
“His career seems destined for something historic. Hopefully, he enjoys a long run free from injuries, which is essential to achieving big numbers. Six titles at his age is extraordinary, and I hope he goes on to win many more.”
Reflecting on Spain’s proud tennis tradition, Nadal acknowledged how Alcaraz is carrying the torch forward:
“Having someone like Carlos ensures Spain remains a global reference point in tennis, as we’ve been for years. This legacy didn’t start with me; it goes back further. Carlos is giving continuity to this long era of success, not just in tennis but in sport as a whole.”
