Rajasthan Assembly by-election : During the Assembly by-election-2024 in Rajasthan, peaceful and fair voting has been completed in 7 assembly constituencies. Voting took place in Ramgarh, Dausa, Chaurasi, Jhunjhunu, Khinvsar, Deoli-Uniara and Salumber assembly constituencies on Wednesday.At a total of 1,915 polling stations, voters from different sections, including newlyweds, disabled, tribals, women, elderly and youth, participated enthusiastically in the voting.
Chief Electoral Officer Shri Naveen Mahajan said that at the time of close of poll in 7 assembly constituencies, the percentage of possible voting has been recorded at 69.29.The final figures of voting percentage will be available only after scrutiny of voting documents on Thursday. He said that even after 6 pm, there were queues of voters at some polling stations. Voters started arriving at polling stations in urban and rural areas from 7 am onwards to exercise their franchise. There was a steady stream of enthusiastic voters throughout the day. Counting of votes for these seven assembly constituencies will begin at 8 am on November 23.
According to Mr. Mahajan, the highest turnout was in Khinvsar assembly constituency at 75.62 percent and the lowest in Dausa at 62.1 percent. Based on the reports received so far from all returning officers, the constituency-wise voting percentage of the Assembly is as follows:—
Khinvsar: 75.62
Ramgarh: 75.27
Eighty-four: 74.1
Salumber: 67.01
Jhunjhunu: 65.8
Devli Uniara: 65.1
Dausa: 62.1
Elections conducted smoothly due to innovations and monitoring of the Commission.
The Chief Electoral Officer said that due to better action planning, innovations and intensive monitoring during the by-elections, voting was conducted smoothly and smoothly.As per the Election Commission’s directive to ensure free, fair, accessible and inclusive elections, preparations were reviewed extensively and regularly with various enforcement agencies.For the first time, the concept of live webcast from outside the polling booth and eco-friendly ‘Green and Clean’ polling booth was realized. Eco friendly selfie booths were also made at polling stations.There was a craze for selfies among voters of all age groups. Voters including youth who voted for the first time were given certificates at the polling stations and saplings were planted.
Monitoring through live webcasting at 1,170 polling stations—
Shri Mahajan said that out of 1,915 polling stations of 7 assembly constituencies, live webcasting of the voting process was done at 1,170.In many polling precincts, CCTV cameras were installed outside the polling booths and the queue of voters and law and order situation were monitored through live streaming. For this innovation, live feed was monitored from the Returning Officer, District and State and Election Commission levels as well as from the Police Abhay Command Centre. Adequate number of central police forces and micro observers were deployed at sensitive polling stations.

Mr Mahajan said all 1,915 voting parties, including the Democrats, had reached the Assembly polls safely.After transportation and storage of EVM machines, Election Commission guidelines and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) are being followed for their safety.He said that due to technical errors during voting in all the 7 assembly constituencies, one ballot unit, one control unit and 13 VVPATs were changed.
Wheelchairs and volunteers for disabled people at polling stations—
According to the Chief Electoral Officer, keeping in mind the convenience of the voters, other arrangements including ramps, drinking water, shade, wheelchairs and vehicles for disabled voters were made at all the polling stations. Besides, NSS, NCC, Scout Guide volunteers were deployed at polling stations to assist the voters. Make voters aware of their right to vote during voting.SVEEP activities were also carried out to motivate them to vote. Youth, new voters and others were also motivated to vote through social media.
Special booth for promotion of women, youth and disabled people-
With the aim of motivating the participation of youth, women and disabled people during the by-elections, special polling centers were created, which were operated by women, youth and disabled personnel. Along with this, young voters also took selfies and uploaded them on social media.
Record more than 99 percent voting under home voting—
Shri Mahajan said that home voting facility was provided for senior citizens aged 85 years and above and voters with more than 40 percent disability.A record more than 99 percent voting took place through home voting in seven assembly constituencies. A total of 3,193 voters applied for home voting, of which 37 died by the time of polling.4 A total of 3,127 voters exercised their franchise from home in the period from November to November 10. Only 29 voters could not vote due to absence.।
