Rajasthan CM Bhajan Lal Sharma urges Non-Resident Rajasthanis in Gujarat to support the state’s vision to become a global gems and jewellery hub.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has urged the Non-Resident Rajasthanis (NRRs) residing in Gujarat to actively participate in transforming Rajasthan into a global hub for gems and jewellery. Speaking at the Pravasi Rajasthani Meet held in Surat, the CM highlighted Rajasthan’s readiness to become a $350 billion economy with an investor-friendly climate that welcomes growth and innovation.
Addressing the gathering ahead of the first Pravasi Rajasthani Diwas scheduled for December 10, 2025, Mr. Sharma emphasized the event’s role in strengthening ties between the global Rajasthani diaspora and their homeland. The day will also feature the ‘Rising Rajasthan’ partnership conclave, designed to harness the expertise of expatriate Rajasthanis across diverse sectors.

Highlighting the synergy between Surat and Rajasthan, the Chief Minister noted, “Surat is globally acclaimed for its diamond cutting and synthetic textiles, while Rajasthan is renowned for coloured gemstones, kundan, meenakari, textiles, and handicrafts.” This common spirit of entrepreneurship and creativity sets the stage for robust economic, cultural, and social cooperation between the two states.
CM Bhajan Lal Sharma also drew attention to upcoming opportunities beyond the gems and jewellery sector, including a proposed petrochemical complex in Rajasthan, which promises significant industrial growth and employment generation.
The Pravasi Rajasthani Diwas aims to reconnect NRRs with their roots, providing them a platform to contribute their entrepreneurial skills to the state’s development. The State government plans to honor outstanding NRRs annually with the ‘Pravasi Rajasthani Samman Award’ in fields such as science, business, arts, sports, literature, cinema, music, and social service.
In addition, the CM Bhajan Lal Sharma assured investors of comprehensive government support for setting up global capability centers and data centers in Rajasthan. “We have established an institutional framework to engage with NRRs effectively,” he added. Currently, 26 active chapters of the Rajasthan Foundation operate across India and internationally, promoting diaspora engagement.
Further plans include the creation of a dedicated government department aimed at deepening the connection with Rajasthanis abroad, ensuring their participation in the state’s ambitious “Developed Rajasthan-2047” vision. The Rajasthan Foundation acts as the primary nodal body for diaspora outreach.
Emphasizing Rajasthan’s investment-friendly policies, CM Bhajan Lal Sharma highlighted over 20 new initiatives introduced or amended recently to foster a progressive business ecosystem. Under the Rajasthan Investment Promotion Scheme-2024, investors have received subsidies totaling more than ₹1,400 crore in the last 18 months, boosting confidence in the state’s economic prospects.
The Pravasi Rajasthani Meet in Surat was also attended by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel and Shyam Rathi, president of the Rajasthan Foundation’s Surat chapter, among other dignitaries.
