Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma is set to lead a significant outreach event, the ‘Pravasi Rajasthani Meet’, in Surat on October 8. The event aims to strengthen ties with the Rajasthani diaspora residing in Surat and encourage their active participation in Rajasthan’s socio-economic development.
Alongside CM Bhajan Lal Sharma, a senior delegation from the Rajasthan government, including Jogaram Patel, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Law and Legal Affairs, Akhil Arora, Additional Chief Secretary of the Public Health and Engineering Department, and Alok Gupta, Principal Secretary of Industries and Commerce, will engage with entrepreneurs and business leaders of Rajasthani origin in Surat. The objective is to motivate these diaspora members to invest in and establish businesses in their hometowns across Rajasthan, fueling the vision of a ‘Viksit Rajasthan’ by 2047.
Strengthening Connections with the Rajasthani Diaspora
This outreach initiative is part of the Rajasthan government’s broader effort to connect with people of Rajasthani heritage living across India and abroad. By fostering stronger relationships, the government hopes to leverage the skills, expertise, and resources of the diaspora to drive inclusive growth and development in the state.
Alok Rathi, president of the Surat chapter of the Rajasthan Foundation, will also attend the meet, facilitating a vibrant dialogue between the government and the community.
Building Momentum Ahead of Pravasi Rajasthani Divas 2025
The Pravasi Rajasthani Meet in Surat is also designed to boost awareness and participation in the upcoming ‘Pravasi Rajasthani Divas’, scheduled to take place in Jaipur on December 10, 2025. This event will serve as a major platform for reconnecting with Rajasthani expatriates and showcasing investment and business opportunities available in the state.
Vision for a Developed Rajasthan by 2047
The Rajasthan government envisions a transformative growth trajectory, with the diaspora playing a crucial role in realizing the state’s ambitions. By tapping into the entrepreneurial spirit of Rajasthani-origin businesspeople, the state aims to enhance employment, infrastructure, and innovation — key pillars of its development roadmap.
