On October 21, Police Commemoration Day, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma paid heartfelt tribute to the brave police personnel who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty while serving the nation. In a touching post on social media platform X, CM Sharma expressed his deep respect and admiration for the unwavering dedication and patriotism of the police force.
“I pay humble tribute to all the brave police personnel who made the supreme sacrifice while performing their duty towards national service. The saga of your courage, dedication to duty, and patriotism will forever remain a source of inspiration for the coming generations of the country,” said Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal Sharma.
Significance of Police Commemoration Day
Observed annually on October 21 across India, Police Commemoration Day honors the memory of ten courageous policemen who were ambushed and killed by the Chinese Army in Ladakh’s Hot Springs in 1959. This tragic event is remembered as a symbol of valor and sacrifice, and since 1962, the day has been dedicated to paying homage to all police personnel who lost their lives while protecting the nation.

In Maharashtra, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis laid a wreath at the Police Parade Ground in Naigaon, Mumbai, honoring the police personnel who laid down their lives. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar paid tribute at the Police Memorial at the Centre for Police Research in Pune, reaffirming the state’s respect and gratitude towards the police force.
