Rajasthan Government : Security checks underway after cyber attacks on websites of education and urban development agencies

The official websites of the Rajasthan government’s education department and urban development and housing department, which were hosted on the state data centre, fell victim to the cyber attack at around 10:54 pm on the night of April 28, 2025.A preliminary investigation by the Department of Information Technology and Communications found that a malicious IP address had an active role behind this hacking.It is a matter of relief that there has been no data loss in this incident.

According to a statement issued by the Department of Information Technology and Communications, the department has taken this cyber attack seriously and has started taking quick action. An FIR has been registered against unknown assailants. The affected websites have been shut down with immediate effect and special precautions are being taken to prevent further damage. Also, the malicious code has been removed from the websites and they have been sent for security audit. In addition, the identified malicious IP address has been blocked.

Along with these steps, the Government of India’s cyber security agency CERT-In (Computer Emergency Response Team) has been roped in for a thorough investigation into the matter.The affected websites will be reactivated by April 30, 2025, after completion of the security audit, the department officials said.Realizing the seriousness of this incident, the Government of Rajasthan is committed to further strengthen digital security.
