BJP will select candidates for Rajasthan Municipal Elections through surveys, public feedback and local worker inputs, says Madan Rathore.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has intensified its preparations for the upcoming Rajasthan Municipal Elections, with the party planning to select candidates on the basis of surveys and public feedback. BJP Rajasthan president Madan Rathore said the party wants to field candidates who enjoy public support and are committed to serving their respective areas.
Rathore shared the party’s strategy during a meeting with BJP workers and office-bearers in Jodhpur on Monday, August 25. The meeting focused on the upcoming election programme, booth-level mobilisation and preparations for the civic polls.
BJP to Use Multiple Sources for Candidate Selection
Madan Rathore said the BJP is conducting surveys from multiple angles before finalising candidates. Feedback from the organisation, local workers and other sources will be collected and analysed before the party makes its final decision.
According to Rathore, the objective is to identify candidates who match the expectations of local residents and have a strong connection with the people. The survey-based approach will be an important part of the BJP’s strategy for the Rajasthan Municipal Elections.
Local Workers to Get Priority
The BJP state president also indicated that the party intends to give preference to capable local workers instead of bringing in candidates from outside the respective wards.
Rathore said local workers understand the issues and expectations of residents better. He added that a ward-level core committee could also have a role in the selection process wherever required.
The party has also expressed confidence that workers who do not receive tickets will continue to support the organisation and work for the party during the elections.

BJP Rules Out ‘Parachute Candidates’
Rathore said the BJP does not plan to field so-called parachute candidates in the upcoming civic polls. Instead, the party will consider local candidates whose names emerge positively through surveys and organisational feedback.
He described loyal party workers as an important strength of the BJP and said their contribution would remain significant during the Rajasthan Municipal Elections.
Rathore Claims No Anti-Incumbency Wave
During his interaction with the media, Rathore also claimed that there is currently no anti-incumbency wave against the BJP government in Rajasthan. He said the government has attempted to address issues according to the needs of different areas and work for public welfare.
His remarks come as the party steps up its organisational activities ahead of the civic elections.
Elections to Be Held in Two Phases
According to the information provided in the report, elections are scheduled to be conducted in two phases on September 9 and September 11, while counting is scheduled for September 14. Elections are to be held across 309 urban local bodies and 10 municipal corporations in the state.
