RAJASTHAN NEWS : The important project connecting Mahi Dam to Jawai Dam for permanent solution of drinking water problem in Pali, Jalore, Sirohi, Barmer will now materialize. In this regard, a meeting was held between Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and State Animal Husbandry Minister Narendra Singh Tomar.
In the meeting, discussions were held regarding the preparation of DPR of this project worth Rs 7 thousand crore. After the meeting, Shri Joram Kumawat said that Chief Minister Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma had announced in the budget year 2024-25 to bring the surplus water of the monsoon period of Mahi and Som rivers to Jawai Dam by filling up Jaisamand Dam and other dams. Detailed discussions were held with Chief Minister Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma to implement this budget announcement. Administrative and technical sanction of Rs. 15.60 crore for preparation of DPR for the project has been issued by the Office of the Chief Engineer, Water Resources Department, Jaipur. The Executive Engineer, Water Resources Division, Salumbar has also issued work orders to WAPCOS Limited for this work. After this, the WAPCOS submitted the inspection report to the Water Resources Division, Udaipur and the department has also approved it.
Shri Kumawat said that after the completion of this ambitious project worth Rs. 7,000 crore, the drinking water problem of Udaipur, Sirohi, Pali and Jodhpur districts will be solved permanently. In addition, 16 lakh hectares of land will be brought under irrigation.
