RAJASTHAN NEWS : Water Resources Minister Suresh Singh Rawat called for cooperation from all sections of the society to make Jal Andolan a Jan Andolan (people’s movement) at a meeting of divisional officers of Ajmer division on Monday. MLA Dushyant Chaturvedi, MLA Ashish Jaiswal, MLA Manisha Kayande, collector R Vimala, ZP chief executive officer Yogesh Kumbhejkar, district superintendent of police Rakesh Ola, resident deputy collector Jagdish Katkar, NMC additional commissioner Ram Joshi, deputy commissioner of police Sanjay Awhad were present on the occasion. Chief Executive Officer of Ajmer Zila Parishad Abhishek Khanna and District Collectors of other districts briefed about the preparations made for the campaign.
Water Resources Minister Suresh Singh Rawat said that under the Vande Ganga – Jal Sanrakshan Maha Abhiyan, various activities will be organised from the state level to the village level. Jal Swavlamban Pakhwada will be held from 5th to 20th June. This campaign is being run to make the state water self-sufficient through water conservation. There is a need to connect a large number of people with it. In this campaign, efforts should be made to make all sections of the society inclusive.
He said that this mega campaign will be launched by Chief Minister Shri Bhajan Lal on the occasion of Ganga Dashami and World Environment Day on Thursday, 5th June. Various activities will be organised from the state level to the village level. It is necessary to approve new work in case the work has not been approved earlier at any place. All the local public representatives will also participate in the activity organised at the water source of their area. On this day, the Kalash Yatra will be taken out by worshipping all the water sources.
The Water Resources Minister said that the activities for the Maha Abhiyan have been proposed by the government. Create calendars according to your local needs. Take action to remove encroachments on rivers and rivulets recorded in land related documents. If there is a water source on the spot, its marking should also be recorded in the revenue record. All efforts should be made to conserve and increase ground water.
He said that public representatives, eminent personalities and NGOs also need to be involved for the success of this mega campaign. He called for the cooperation of the new generation in the works of water conservation. There is a need to make the new generation aware of the history and heritage of traditional water sources.
He said that works should be carried out in various districts of Ajmer Division as per the local requirement with the help of Bhamashahs, entrepreneurs, migrants and people associated with mining. Plantation should be done on priority in mining affected areas. Plant trees on all water sources. Encroachment on the Chaturbhuj pond of Tonk should not be done again. It should be ensured that all water sources in the constituency are repaired.
Shri Suresh Singh Rawat said that the department also needs to focus on flood management. Work by making an action plan to prevent waterlogging in the former waterlogged areas. Prepare a flood contingency plan for low-lying areas. Clean the drains of urban and rural areas. Flood control room should be set up in two weeks.
