Rajasthan News : Amid torrential rains in Jodhpur division for the last two days, where normal life was affected, teams of Jodhpur Vidyut Vitaran Nigam (DISCOM) were engaged in the field with full preparedness. Officials and technical staff were seen making frequent field visits to ensure smooth power supply. At the same time, women engineers were also active in the field during the rains and played an equal role in removing power faults and restoring supply.
During the rains, there were incidents of poles falling, there was a technical fault in the transformer, but the teams of the DISCOM started the repair work by responding immediately without losing time. The promptness and dedication of the staff in these moments of crisis brought relief to the consumers.
Disposal of 604 power outage complaints, immediate action on 73 safety complaints
A total of 604 power outage complaints received from consumers during rains were promptly resolved by Jodhpur DISCOM. Also, 73 serious security related complaints were also redressed promptly on priority. The entire operation was carried out under the constant monitoring of Dr. Bhanwar Lal, Managing Director, Jodhpur Discom. He constantly kept in touch with the field officers and kept giving necessary instructions while reviewing the situation at every level.
Meanwhile, Managing Director Dr. Bhanwarlal has appealed to the general public to take special care of electricity related precautions during the rains. He also shared seven important tips to avoid any kind of electrical accident during rains: –
1. Do not touch any electrical appliances with wet hands.
2. Maintain proper distance from open wires and electric poles.
3. Do not go near structures such as transformers or fuse conductors.
4. Be sure to inspect your home on a regular basis.
5. Avoid a temporary power connection.

7. Do not allow children to play in waterlogged areas.
Dr. Bhanwarlal said that it is the responsibility of the department to maintain power supply, but the vigilance of the general public is equally important. He has directed all the Superintending Engineers to provide quick response in case of emergency and deploy additional teams as per requirement.
