Rajpal Yadav deposits Rs 1.15 crore in the Supreme Court in the cheque bounce case and promises to pay another Rs 85 lakh after Navratri.
The Rajpal Yadav Cheque Bounce Case took another turn on Tuesday as actor Rajpal Yadav appeared before the Supreme Court and submitted a demand draft worth Rs 1.15 crore. His legal team informed the court that the actor would make another payment of Rs 85 lakh through RTGS on October 13.
During the hearing, Rajpal Yadav’s lawyer explained that the sale of a property had been delayed because of Pitru Paksha. The lawyer assured the court that the next payment would be made once Navratri begins.
The Supreme Court also directed the actor to submit a clear schedule outlining how he plans to clear the remaining dues.
Rajpal Yadav Says 16-Year-Old Case Hurt His Reputation
While hearing the Rajpal Yadav Cheque Bounce Case, the judge interacted directly with the actor. Rajpal said that the long-running legal dispute had caused considerable damage to his reputation and had also resulted in financial losses.
The Chief Justice responded in a lighter vein, telling the actor to focus on making a good film and entertaining audiences.

Rajpal Yadav then added a humorous touch to the exchange, revealing that he had already decided on the title of his next movie. He said he was considering the name, โSolah Saawan Jhel Ke,โ referring to the lengthy ordeal he has faced.
The hearing concluded after the submissions.
Supreme Court Had Earlier Warned Actor
The latest hearing in the Rajpal Yadav Cheque Bounce Case comes after the Supreme Court had strongly criticised the actor during an earlier proceeding. The court had reportedly warned him about the consequences of failing to comply with its directions and made a stern observation regarding his conduct.
The court had also told Rajpal that he could face imprisonment and cautioned him against what it described as an arrogant attitude during the proceedings.
How Did the Cheque Bounce Case Begin?
The dispute dates back to 2010, when Murli Projects Private Limited allegedly provided a loan of around Rs 5 crore to Rajpal Yadav, his wife and his production company for the making of the film Ata Pata Laapata.
After the film’s release was delayed, the parties reportedly reached an understanding regarding repayment of the loan. However, seven cheques issued to the company were subsequently dishonoured.
Murli Projects then initiated legal proceedings under the Negotiable Instruments Act over the bounced cheques.
Rajpal Yadav Was Convicted in 2018
The legal battle continued for several years. In April 2018, a trial court convicted Rajpal Yadav in the case. The conviction was later upheld by the Sessions Court in 2024.
The actor’s latest appearance before the Supreme Court and the payment of Rs 1.15 crore mark another development in the long-running dispute.
The Rajpal Yadav Cheque Bounce Case is now focused on the repayment of the outstanding amount and the timeline for clearing the remaining dues. The court has asked the actor to provide a structured payment schedule.
For Rajpal Yadav, the case has continued for more than a decade and has remained a significant legal and financial challenge alongside his acting career.
