Ram Kapoor on Why Some TV Actors Thrive Financially While Others Fade Away
In an interview with Humans of Bombay, Ram Kapoor highlighted that while many TV actors have built significant wealth through sensible investments, others who earned well during their peak struggled financially after their shows ended. “When you make it to the top like Ronit Roy, Sakshi Tanwar, and me, and you are sensible with your investments… there were a lot of people who had hit shows, but they spent more money than they should, and when that show shut down and they didn’t get another show. They did not do well and disappeared,” Ram explained.
Ram praised Ronit Roy for his financial prudence and sharp investment choices. He revealed that Ronit, who initially struggled in films and faced hardships, found stability and success in television thanks to Ektaa Kapoor’s support. “People like a Ronit… he has a lot of houses, vacation homes, and such a fantastic villa in Goa. He has been sensible because he started in films and he didn’t make it in films. He was a flop actor in films and he didn’t have money to eat. Then Ektaa Kapoor took him on. In television, he never looked back. He had seen failure so when he got success, he respected it from day one,” Ram shared.
Ram also mentioned Sakshi Tanwar’s financial standing, saying she has amassed enough wealth to support six generations, thanks to her smart money management over the years.
His comments shed light on the importance of financial discipline in the entertainment industry, where fame and income can be fleeting. While the television medium has the potential to offer lucrative returns, actors must be prudent with their earnings to sustain long-term financial security.
