Ram Temple Donation Theft Case: UP SIT report reportedly clears Champat Rai and Anil Mishra, while a Supreme Court-monitored probe continues.
Former Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust general secretary Champat Rai has reportedly been cleared by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) examining allegations of irregularities involving donations at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The development comes after the SIT submitted its final report, which reportedly does not name Rai or former trust member Anil Mishra in connection with the allegations.
The Ram Temple Donation Theft Case has drawn significant attention following claims of alleged embezzlement and irregularities linked to donations received at the Ayodhya shrine. While one SIT has submitted its report, a separate investigation constituted under Supreme Court supervision is continuing.
Champat Rai and Anil Mishra not named in final report
According to information available, the final report submitted by the first SIT does not include the names of Champat Rai and Anil Mishra as accused in the alleged donation theft matter.
The Uttar Pradesh Home Department examined the report before forwarding it to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust for further action. The findings have brought relief to the two former trust members, whose roles had come under scrutiny after allegations concerning temple donations surfaced.
Both Rai and Mishra had resigned from their respective positions in the trust on June 27 while the investigation into the alleged irregularities was underway.
First SIT was formed in June
The first SIT investigating the Ram Temple Donation Theft Case was constituted on June 13 following directions from Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath after a request from the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.
The team was headed by Lucknow Divisional Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant. Inspector General of Police, Lucknow Range, Kiran S, and Special Secretary, Finance, Neel Ratan Kumar were also part of the investigation team.
The SIT examined allegations, documents and other evidence related to the claimed irregularities involving donations at the Ram Temple before submitting its report.

Supreme Court seeks early completion of second SIT probe
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has directed another SIT, which is examining the Ram Temple Donation Theft Case under the court’s supervision, to complete its investigation at the earliest and take the matter to its logical conclusion.
A bench headed by Chief Justice Surya Kant, along with Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V. Mohana, also directed the investigation team to submit a status report in a sealed cover.
The report is expected to detail the progress made during the investigation. The Supreme Court said it would first examine the status report before deciding whether it should be shared with the parties involved in the matter.
SIT asked to consider suggestions objectively
The Supreme Court has also allowed petitioners and other concerned individuals to submit suggestions regarding issues that should be examined during the investigation.
The office of Solicitor General Tushar Mehta will forward the suggestions to the SIT. The investigation team has been asked to consider them objectively while continuing its probe.
The court has also stressed the importance of maintaining transparency and ensuring the quality of the investigation into the allegations.
Investigation continues despite clean chit in first report
The clean chit reportedly given to Champat Rai and Anil Mishra by the first SIT does not bring the entire Ram Temple Donation Theft Case to an end. A separate SIT, which includes a forensic auditor and is functioning under Supreme Court supervision, is continuing its investigation.
The second team has been directed to complete the probe as soon as possible and submit its progress report to the Supreme Court in a sealed cover.
For now, the first SIT report has provided relief to Champat Rai and Anil Mishra, as their names reportedly do not appear among those accused. However, the wider Ram Temple Donation Theft Case remains under investigation, and further developments will depend on the findings of the Supreme Court-monitored SIT.
