Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) has initiated legal action against the coaching operator who circulated the video related to RAS Main Exam Evaluation System. In this regard, the commission has issued a notice and directed the concerned person to give an explanation by February 24. If the reply is not found satisfactory, further legal action will be taken.
According to the secretary of the commission, the initial investigation has identified the person who uploaded the video and his coaching institute as the operator of “Chaitanya Academy” located in Bharatpur. The commission has issued a notice to this person asking him to explain within seven days and submit the names and details of the so-called experts mentioned in the video.
Chief Controller of Examinations Ashutosh Gupta has appealed that if anyone has additional information about the address and activities of the coaching institute or the person concerned, it must be informed to the Commission, so that action can be taken quickly.
Significantly, on February 15, a video titled “Professor’s Tremendous Revelations on RAS Main Exam” was circulated on social media, in which a purported expert was shown discussing as the evaluator of the exam. The video also claimed that the voice of the alleged professor has been changed due to legal reasons. During the investigation, it also came to light that the coaching operator had also shared handwritten quizzes related to the exam on his WhatsApp channel.
The incident has led to breach of confidentiality of the Commission and violation of several laws. These include Section 5 of the Rajasthan Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2022, under which sharing of confidential information related to the examination is prohibited to anyone. This violation is punishable under Section 10 with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 10 years to life and with fine which may extend to 10 lakh to 10 crore rupees.
Apart from this, it will also be considered a serious offence under Section 316 (criminal breach of trust) of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 72 and 72A of the IT Act, 2000, which provide for stringent punishment.
