Sabarmati-Jammu Tawi Express will run up to Vaishno Devi Katra from October 18, benefiting passengers across seven Rajasthan districts.
Passengers from western Rajasthan travelling to Mata Vaishno Devi will soon get a more convenient rail connection. Western Railway has extended the Sabarmati-Jammu Tawi Express up to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, allowing passengers to travel directly to the pilgrimage destination instead of ending their journey at Jammu Tawi.
The extended service will begin from October 18, 2026. Train number 19223, which originates from Sabarmati in Gujarat, passes through several important stations in western Rajasthan. The extension is expected to benefit passengers from seven Rajasthan districts, including Sirohi, Pali, Jodhpur, Nagaur, Bikaner, Sri Ganganagar and Hanumangarh.
Sabarmati-Jammu Tawi Express Schedule
The Sabarmati-Jammu Tawi Express will continue to depart from Sabarmati at 10:25 am. Under the extended schedule, the train will reach Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra at 6:55 pm the following day.
For the return journey, the train will leave Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra at 4:50 am and reach Sabarmati at 2:05 pm the next day.
At present, the train reaches Jammu Tawi at around 6:40 pm after covering approximately 1,493 kilometres from Sabarmati. With the new extension, passengers will be able to continue by the same train up to Katra.
Seven Rajasthan Districts to Get Direct Benefit
The Sabarmati-Jammu Tawi Express passes through several stations across western Rajasthan. The extended service is expected to make the journey to Vaishno Devi more convenient for passengers from seven districts.
The major stations covered in Rajasthan include:
Sirohi: Abu Road and Pindwara
Pali: Sumerpur, Falna, Marwar and Pali Marwar
Jodhpur: Luni and Pipar Road
Nagaur: Gotan, Merta Road and Nagaur
Bikaner: Nokha, Deshnoke, Bikaner, Lalgarh and Lunkaransar
Sri Ganganagar: Suratgarh
Hanumangarh: Pilibanga, Hanumangarh and Sangaria
The extension will particularly help devotees travelling from these areas for religious visits to Mata Vaishno Devi.

No Need to Change Transport at Jammu Tawi
One of the major advantages of the new arrangement is that passengers will no longer have to plan a separate journey from Jammu Tawi to Katra after completing their train journey.
With the Sabarmati-Jammu Tawi Express now extended to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, passengers can remain on the same train until the pilgrimage destination. This could be especially useful for families, elderly travellers and devotees carrying luggage.
New Timings From October 18
According to the revised schedule, train number 19223 will leave Sabarmati at 10:25 am and arrive at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra at 6:55 pm the next day.
The return service will depart from Katra at 4:50 am and reach Sabarmati at 2:05 pm the following day. The new schedule will come into effect from October 18.
