Samay Raina’s Joke About Alpha Gets the Panel Laughing During Latest India’s Got Latent Episode
Comedian Samay Raina is once again making headlines for his trademark deadpan humour. In the latest members-only episode of India’s Got Latent Season 2, the comedian took an unexpected swipe at Alia Bhatt and Sharvari’s film Alpha, poking fun at its underwhelming box office performance during a light-hearted exchange with Raghav Juyal.
The episode featured Raghav Juyal and Niharika NM, who appeared on the show to promote their upcoming film Bhai Tera Star Hai. While talking about the project, Raghav repeated the film’s title more than once, prompting Samay to interrupt with a joke.
“Kitni baar khud hi batana padega. Kaisa star hai tu?”
The quip drew laughter from the panel, but Raghav quickly responded by bringing Alia Bhatt into the conversation.
“Alia Bhatt ne bhi khud hi bataya tha.”
Without missing a beat, Samay fired back:
“Uski bhi nahi chali fir.”
The remark instantly became one of the most talked-about moments from the episode, with clips circulating widely across social media.
Samay Raina Had Earlier Promoted Alpha Himself
Interestingly, Samay’s joke comes despite the comedian having actively supported Alpha during its release. Ahead of the film’s premiere, he booked an entire theatre for fans and even distributed tickets for a special screening.
After the show, Samay video-called Alia Bhatt to tell her that the audience had enjoyed the film, a gesture that was widely appreciated by fans at the time.
His latest comment, however, reflects the comedian’s signature roast-style humour, where even celebrities who have appeared on his show are not spared.
How Did Alpha Perform at the Box Office?
Directed by Aditya Rawal, Alpha marked the first female-led instalment in the YRF Spy Universe, with Alia Bhatt and Sharvari headlining the action thriller alongside Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol.
Despite high expectations and being backed by one of Bollywood’s biggest franchises, the film failed to emerge as a major commercial success. It reportedly earned ₹58.62 crore at the Indian box office and ₹98.83 crore worldwide, falling short of industry expectations.
The film also received mixed-to-negative reviews from critics and audiences. While some viewers appreciated its action sequences, others criticised the screenplay and pacing. A cameo by Hrithik Roshan generated discussion online but received divided reactions from moviegoers.
India’s Got Latent Returns After Months of Controversy
The joke comes months after India’s Got Latent returned with its second season. The show had previously been taken down after the controversy surrounding Ranveer Allahbadia’s remarks on an earlier episode, leading Samay Raina to remove all episodes from YouTube.
Season 2 was later announced during Samay’s stand-up special Still Alive and now streams on both YouTube and Netflix, continuing to feature celebrity guests, comedians and viral moments that frequently dominate social media conversations.
