Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8 launch on July 22 in London Unpacked event with Ultra model, upgraded cameras, and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip.
Samsung Electronics is set to host its next Galaxy Unpacked event on July 22 in London, where it will officially unveil the highly anticipated Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 foldable smartphones.
This year, Samsung is reportedly reshaping its foldable lineup by introducing a new premium variant, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, alongside the standard Z Fold 8—mirroring its “Ultra” strategy already seen in the Galaxy S series.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is expected to be powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, paired with 16GB of RAM as standard. The Ultra model is said to push specifications further with a 200MP primary camera, an additional telephoto lens, and a larger 5,000mAh battery compared to the 4,800mAh unit on the standard version.
Both devices are expected to support fast wired charging as well as wireless charging capabilities, continuing Samsung’s focus on premium foldable performance.
Design and Display Improvements
Samsung has reportedly refined the hinge mechanism once again, resulting in a smoother folding experience and a less visible display crease. The devices are also expected to feature brighter AMOLED panels designed for improved outdoor visibility, along with a slightly wider aspect ratio to enhance multitasking usability.

Software and Multitasking Enhancements
On the software side, Samsung’s One UI is expected to introduce improved multitasking features. Users will reportedly be able to drag and resize app windows more freely, offering a desktop-like experience when the device is unfolded.
Camera Upgrades and Video Features
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 series is expected to support 4K video recording at 60fps. Improvements in night photography will deliver brighter images with reduced noise. The Ultra variant’s telephoto lens is expected to provide superior zoom performance, while both models will feature an improved under-display selfie camera with better clarity and edge detection.
Pricing and Availability
Samsung has not officially confirmed pricing yet. However, industry estimates suggest the Galaxy Z Fold 8 could start at around $1,899, while the Ultra variant is expected to be priced significantly higher.
Pre-orders are likely to open shortly after the Unpacked event, with shipping expected to begin in August.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 series is shaping up to be one of the most significant upgrades in Samsung’s foldable lineup, focusing on performance, camera innovation, and refined design.
