Sandhwan urges the Central Government to abandon its stubborn stance and address the farmers’ issues without delay.
Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker S. Kultar Singh Sandhwan hoisted the National Flag as the chief guest during the district-level 76th Republic Day celebrations at Nehru Stadium in Faridkot. On this occasion, he inspected the parade and took the salute from the march past. MLA Faridkot Gurdit Singh Sekhon and MLA Jaito Amolak Singh were also present at the event.
In his address, S. Kultar Singh Sandhwan highlighted that India’s freedom was achieved through the sacrifices of its great warriors, heroes, and the relentless struggle of freedom fighters. He noted that the Indian Constitution came into force on January 26, 1950, and that India takes pride in being the world’s largest democracy.
He further expressed his respect for the country’s heroes and patriots and wished for the state’s progress and prosperity. Sandhwan emphasized that the Punjab Government is dedicated to the comprehensive development of the state, citing that over the past three years, the government, under Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, has made historic, pro-people decisions for the state’s development
Sandhwan stated that Punjab, the land of Gurus, aims to initiate air travel to the five Takht Sahibs in collaboration with the Central Government, which would greatly benefit the people. He also mentioned that the state government plans to launch an air ambulance service to assist with people’s medical needs.
Sandhwan urged the Central Government to abandon its stubborn stance and swiftly address the farmers’ issues, ensuring they are not forced into any kind of protest. He emphasized that Punjab is the backbone of the nation and plays a significant role in making the country self-reliant in the food grain sector.
The event featured performances by students from various schools, including PT shows, cultural programs, patriotic items, and traditional Giddha and Bhangra dances. Additionally, tableaux showcasing welfare and development initiatives from various departments were displayed, with a focus on patriotism and cultural programs. S. Sandhwan honored the families of martyrs and freedom fighters, as well as distinguished individuals who excelled in various fields and officers/employees for their exceptional services.
