Saurabh Bhardwaj: The largest political conspiracy in the excise policy case

Saurabh Bhardwaj

Leading AAP politician Saurabh Bhardwaj claimed on Tuesday that the investigation went beyond simple accusations of money laundering, characterizing it as the biggest political plot in Indian history.

Saurabh Bhardwaj made his remarks in reaction to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s appeal against the ED’s detention being denied by the Delhi High Court. During a news conference, Bhardwaj emphasized the case of Sanjay Singh, who obtained relief from the Supreme Court in spite of the High Court’s ruling against him.

It is customary for the High Court to reverse a district court verdict if it is determined to be incorrect, and for the Supreme Court to then reverse any faulty rulings rendered by the HC. The remarks that the High Court made about the approvers today are consistent with the ruling that it rendered on Singh on February 7, 2024. But Singh was given relief by the Supreme Court, which rejected these claims, he continued.

EXCISE POLICY CASE: THE COURT CUSTODY OF BRS LEADER KAVITHA HAS BEEN EXTENDED UNTIL APRIL 23.

Bhardwaj also voiced worries on the substantial financial impropriety claims made by the CBI and ED, but no actual evidence having been found. He emphasized that there were substantial concerns regarding the investigation’s effectiveness given that no illicit monies had been recovered.

The AAP leader also cited cases of intimidation and coercion against witnesses, implying that they were under duress to change their testimony to support the government. Bhardwaj emphasized that these kinds of actions have been recorded in court cases, raising questions about the objectivity of the Central authorities’ probe.

“It can be argued that this entire case is predicated on falsified evidence and coerced witnesses; its basis is deceit,” he stated.

Bharadwaj cast doubt on the veracity of statements made under duress, pointing out that when people are only allowed to go free if they swear to testify against Kejriwal, the value of those statements is called into serious doubt, regardless of whether they are made in front of the ED or a magistrate.

Saurabh Bhardwaj acknowledged the High Court as an institution and conveyed respect for its ruling. He did, however, express his polite disagreement with the decision. We plan to challenge this ruling in an appeal to the Supreme Court and voice our opinions to the highest court in the land.
