Authorities said the remains were found on September 8 in the boot of an impounded Tesla at a Hollywood tow yard, after staff reported a foul smell. The vehicle, carrying Texas license plates, had been abandoned in the Hollywood Hills and towed to the facility five days earlier.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner revealed that the body was in an advanced state of decomposition and not intact, suggesting the girl had been dead for an extended period. Officials said the remains matched Rivas, who was last seen in Lake Elsinore, California, when she was 13 years old.
The examiner also noted that the body was about 5ft 2in tall, had wavy black hair, and was dressed in a tube top and black leggings. A distinctive tattoo reading “Shhh” was found on the right index finger.
The Tesla is registered to 20-year-old David Anthony Burke, known professionally as D4vd, a rising music star who has gained millions of followers online and is best known for his viral tracks Here With Me and Romantic Homicide. He released his debut album in April and was on tour when the discovery was made. His scheduled show in Seattle last week was cancelled.
