The Authority gives Nod to various infrastructural development projects in the Sonipat Metropolitan Area

SMDA News: In the first meeting of the Sonipat Metropolitan Development Authority (SMDA) held today under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh, a budget of Rs. 363 crore was approved for the financial year 2024-25. This budget will fund various infrastructural development projects in the Sonipat Metropolitan Area.

Presiding over the meeting, the Chief Minister stated that the Sonipat Metropolitan Development Authority Act, 2023 was notified by the State Government on October 3, 2023. The Act aims to foster a vision for the sustained and balanced growth of the Sonipat Metropolitan Area. He assured that there is no dearth of funds for development works, and additional resources will be allocated to the SMDA to support the sustainable management of the urban environment and promote social, economic, and industrial development.
In the meeting, the Authority approved projects for the four-laning of the Master roads connecting sectors 59/64, 59/60, 62/63, 60/64, and 59/60, totaling approximately 3700 meters, at an estimated cost of Rs. 22.81 crore. The completion of this roadwork will significantly enhance the road network in these sectors and provide essential amenities to the residents. Beside this, laying of master sewer missing links on balance area of Sector 58 to 64 having length of approximately 3790 meters at an estimated cost of Rs 8.33 crore and construction of balance stretches totaling length of 2210 meters by four laning of master roads at a cost of Rs 16.10 crore was also approved.
With a view to ensure adequate supply of clean drinking water in village Liwan and Rai, the Authority accorded approval to the construction of an intermediate boosting station in Rajiv Gandhi Education City , two boosting station and laying pipeline having a length of 11,555 meter in village Liwan and Rai at estimated cost of Rs 10.19 crore.
Owing to increase in population of Rathdhana, approval was given for the construction of 30 MLD Swerage Treatment Plant (STP) at a cost of Rs 90 crore, considering the population forecast for next 30 years. A decision was also taken to construct a 7.50 MLD STP at Kundli at a cost of Rs 54.69 crore. Presently, there is no sewerage network and STP laid in the town for treatment of untreated household water.
Various other projects and works were also approved in the meeting. These included setting up of Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) on the lines of GMDA, development of Sports Stadium at Sector-4, improvement and beautification of Town Park/ Tau Devi Lal Park at NH-44 and Leisure Valley Park, 6/8 laning of Sector 7-29, 6-29 and 5-29 dividing road upto Diwan farm from existing 4 lanes and redesign of Diwan farm junction, master sewer and storm water services for Sector 26-26A, 33, 34, 35 and 36, construction of RUB under Geeta Bhawan Flyover to decongest existing flyover, major junction improvement for better mobility management and preparation of comprehensive mobility plan for Sonipat Metropolitan Area.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Sonipat Metropolitan Development Authority (SMDA), Sh. KM Pandurang, provided a detailed overview of the development projects planned for the current financial year. He assured the Chief Minister that these projects would be implemented with utmost precision to ensure the comprehensive development of the Sonipat Metropolitan Area.
Haryana Finance and Town and Country Planning and Urban Estates Minister, Sh J.P. Dalal, Public Health Engineering and Public Works (Building and Roads) Minister, Dr Banwari Lal, Minister of State for Transport Sh Aseem Goyal, BJP State President and MLA Rai Sh. Mohan Lal Badoli, Chief Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Sh Rajesh Khullar and other Ex-officio members of the Authority were also present in the meeting.
