Smriti Irani Discusses Her Professional Decisions: "Rejected Pan Masala Advertisements And 'Dil Chahta Hai' Audition"

Smriti Irani’s  Professional Decisions

Famous for playing Tulsi Virani in the beloved television series “Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi” (KSBKBT), Smriti Irani recently discussed her career path as an actress and the calculated choices that formed it. Smriti declined a number of chances despite having great success in the entertainment business, such as wedding performances, sponsorships for pan masala products, and an audition for Farhan Akhtar’s highly anticipated film “Dil Chahta Hai.”

Smriti Irani talked about her early difficulties as an actor in an interview. She discussed turning down roles that went against her ethics as a professional. Smriti claims, “I was the highest-paid actor in Indian television when I left. However, I also had a few limitations. I passed up numerous chances to do a pan masala advertisement. I made it very apparent that this was not who I thought I was. I’d never attend a wedding. Although there was a lot of money involved, I didn’t see myself as a professional in that way.

RAMAYANA: ON NITESH TIWARI’S FILM SET, ARUN GOVIL IN THE ROLE OF RAJA DASHARATHA AND LARA DUTTA IN THE ROLE OF KAIKEYI WERE SPOTTED.

She went into further detail about why she chose to put her family’s needs and dignity ahead of options like movie stardom. She was offered “Dil Chahta Hai,” but she turned it down because she didn’t want to play stereotypically feminine roles. “I had familial responsibilities,” she clarified. I wanted to live my acting career with dignity since I didn’t want my family to find me embarrassing.

Even during the first three months of KSBKBT, I was offered leading roles in movies, but I made the decision to become a mother because I understood that if I had a child, I couldn’t be a fairy tale character playing about in trees. I turned down an audition for one of those movies, Dil Chahta Hai, and they asked, “Are you crazy, this is DCH.” Undoubtedly, Preity Zinta did not play the starring part; rather, one of the other female characters did.
