Mumbai Founder Spots Nikhil Kamath at subko cafe — Hands Him a Note with His Startup Pitch
Sometimes, opportunity walks right past your table — and if you’re quick enough, you can turn that into a moment worth remembering.
That’s exactly what happened to Yash Gawde, a Mumbai-based entrepreneur and founder of the startup BeHooked, who found himself just a few feet away from Nikhil Kamath, co-founder of Zerodha and one of India’s youngest billionaires.

Gawde was at Subko Café in Bandra with a friend — VC Aakash Sood — talking shop: startup strategy, pitching tips, and the power of storytelling. In the middle of that intense, startup-style conversation, a group of people walked into a private room right across from them. Among them? Nikhil Kamath.
“I saw Nikhil Kamath yesterday. He waved hi to me. And I gave him this note,” Gawde later wrote on LinkedIn.
Yes — a handwritten note. Gawde didn’t hesitate. He jotted down a quick introduction and passed it along, hoping to make a lasting impression. He even shared a photo of the note on LinkedIn, sparking a flurry of comments applauding his courage.
