The State Election Commission has announced the schedule for the preparation of electoral rolls for the general election to the Municipal Councils of Tarn Taran (Tarn Taran District), Dera Baba Nanak (Gurdaspur District), and Talwara (Hoshiarpur District), which will take place on 20.01.2024.
State Election Commissioner Raj Kamal Chaudhuri informed that the draft electoral roll preparation will take place from 20.01.2025 to 24.01.2025 by the concerned Electoral Registration Officer (ERO), with a qualifying date of 1.1.2025. The draft rolls will be published on 25.01.2025. Claims and objections can be filed from 27.01.2025 to 03.02.2025, followed by the disposal of claims and objections by 11.02.2025. The final electoral rolls will be published on 14.02.2025.
He further stated that the Deputy Commissioners-cum-District Election Officers of Tarn Taran, Gurdaspur, and Hoshiarpur have been instructed to display the draft electoral rolls on 25.01.2025. All individuals aged 18 years or older are eligible to apply for inclusion in the voter lists and may file claims and objections according to the above schedule. The final electoral rolls will be published by the Electoral Registration Officer (SDM) on 14.02.2025.
He urged that all interested and eligible individuals in the jurisdiction of these Municipalities should register in the voter lists during the claims and objections period to ensure they can participate in the general elections of the three Municipalities.
