‘What Superman’s End-Credits Scenes Say About the Future of DC Movies
The latest Superman movie features two end-credits scenes, but fans expecting big reveals or plot teases might be left disappointed. Unlike many modern blockbusters that use these scenes to hint at sequels or spin-offs, Superman takes a lighter approach.
One scene shows Superman affectionately cuddling his dog, Krypto — a charming moment but without narrative weight. The other features a humorous exchange between Superman and Mister Terrific, a hero who helped close a portal to another dimension. They joke about the two halves of Metropolis being misaligned after a catastrophic event, but the banter offers no clues about upcoming DC Comics films or storylines.
This subdued use of Superman’s End-Credits Scenes contrasts with the trend popularized by the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The MCU kicked off the modern era of post-credits stingers in 2008 with Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury recruiting Iron Man for the Avengers. Since then, nearly every Marvel movie has included post-credits scenes teasing future installments. Other franchises like Fast & Furious, Pirates of the Caribbean, and John Wick have followed suit, encouraging audiences to stay seated through the credits.
For Superman, however, the focus seems to be on humor and light-hearted moments rather than building anticipation for the next chapter in the DC Universe. Fans eager for plot clues may have to wait for future announcements.
