Providing permanent housing to Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) households is a key component of the PM JANMAN initiative, implemented by the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD). To facilitate this, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs (MoTA), in collaboration with State Governments and Union Territories, has conducted habitation-level data collection using the PM Gati Shakti mobile application. This process helps estimate the PVTG population and identify gaps in infrastructure, including housing.
According to the guidelines, data collected through the mobile app is verified by relevant Ministries and State Departments. Based on this verification, houses under PMAY-G are sanctioned through the Awaas Soft portal of MoRD, following the program’s norms. Once approved, the data is integrated into PM Gati Shakti for tracking progress. The ensures the scheme’s implementation and monitoring through an end-to-end e-governance system via AwaasSoft and AwaasApp, which manages beneficiary identification, fund disbursement, and progress reporting. Public access to reports on AwaasSoft allows for transparency in tracking both financial and physical progress.
Additionally, PMAY-G includes a structured grievance redressal mechanism at multiple administrative levels, including Gram Panchayat, Block, District, and State. Concerns raised by Members of Parliament, State Assembly representatives, or the public (through CPGRAMS) are forwarded to the respective State Governments for appropriate aMoRD ction.
