Speaking at a recent fan interaction, Aamir revealed that Aamir Khan’s son struggled with dyslexia and had issues in basic reading and writing skills during his early school years. The actor admitted that he was initially harsh and failed to recognize the signs, confessing, “I was like Nandkishore Awasthi in the beginning. I used to scold Junaid. I couldn’t understand how he couldn’t write properly or read simple words.”
The turning point came when Aamir and his ex-wife, Reena Dutta, read the script of Taare Zameen Par. They saw uncanny parallels between the character of Ishaan and Aamir Khan’s son, prompting them to seek professional help. Junaid was diagnosed with dyslexia around the age of six or seven, and with early intervention, he received the support he needed.
This personal connection not only reshaped Aamir’s parenting but also added emotional authenticity to his portrayal of the compassionate teacher in Taare Zameen Par. Junaid himself has since spoken publicly about his experience, crediting his parents for standing by him.
Now, as Aamir gears up for the release of Sitaare Zameen Par, his spiritual sequel to the 2007 classic, the actor’s reflections on Aamir Khan’s son bring fresh relevance to the film’s core message — that empathy, patience, and understanding can unlock a child’s true potential.
