Indian Navy : Fostering friendship while training future naval personnel, INS Tir and ICGS Veera from the First Training Squadron arrived at Cam Ranh Bay, Vietnam, on February 20, 2025. The ships were warmly received by the Vietnam People’s Navy and representatives of the Indian mission in Vietnam. This visit aims to deepen the enduring friendship and growing partnership between the two maritime nations.
During their stay, the crew will engage in cross-training sessions, professional exchanges, and community interactions, including a visit to the Vietnam Naval Academy. The visit will conclude with bilateral exercises with the Vietnam People’s Navy and Coast Guard, enhancing interoperability and the exchange of best practices.
India and Vietnam share a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, further strengthened by the Vietnamese Prime Minister’s visit to India in August 2024. This naval deployment underscores closer maritime cooperation and training exchanges between the two navies. Aligned with India’s SAGAR (Security and Growth for All in the Region) vision, this initiative reflects India’s commitment to regional maritime security and capacity building.
