CM Nitish Kumar today transferred the first instalment of assistance of Rs. 1200 crore to 3 lakh families under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin from Sankalp at 1, Aney Marg in a one-time transfer at the click of a mouse.
During the programme, Secretary, Rural Development Department, Shri Lokesh Kumar Singh informed through a presentation that the State has so far achieved a total target of 7,90,648 houses under the scheme. Under the scheme, an assistance of Rs 1.20 lakh is given to the beneficiaries in three installments, with 60% being borne by the central government and 40% by the state government.
Earlier, Rs 420 crore was disbursed as the first instalment to 1.05 lakh beneficiaries by the Chief Minister on October 7, 2024. In today’s programme, the first instalment of Rs 40,000 per beneficiary was released to 3 lakh beneficiaries, with a total outlay of Rs 1200 crore. In the next 100 days, they will get the second and third installments of Rs 80,000, Rs 22,050 under 90 days of MGNREGA wages, and Rs 12,000 for toilet construction under Lohia Swachh Bihar Abhiyan. Thus, each beneficiary will receive a total assistance of Rs 1,54,050, thereby providing about Rs 4621.50 crore to a total of 3 lakh beneficiaries.
The Chief Minister extended his best wishes to the beneficiaries on the occasion and congratulated the Rural Development Department for the successful event. He directed the officials to ensure proper implementation of the schemes so that the beneficiaries get immediate benefits without any inconvenience.
The event was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha, Rural Development Minister Shravan Kumar, Chief Secretary Amrutlal Meena, and other senior officials.
