Amendment Bills: The following important Amendment Bills will be introduced in the House today, including:

3. Punjab Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2025 to be introduced.

5. Motion to introduce and consider and pass the Punjab Co-operative Societies (Amendment) Bill, 2025.

Day 1 proceedings: These 8 issues were the topic of discussion
1. AAP MLAs protest against Modi: In the House, AAP MLAs waved posters reading “Modi ji’s 1600 crore jumla” over the lack of flood relief funds from the central government. Finance Minister Harpal Cheema questioned the absence of BJP MLAs.
2. Accusing the Prime Minister of hating Punjab: AAP MLAs alleged that the Prime Minister hates Punjab because he did not meet the family who lost their child in the floods during his visit to Pathankot.
3. Congress demands Irrigation Minister’s resignation:
Leader of the Opposition Pratap Singh Bajwa said the government has turned Punjab from “Rangla” to “Kangla.” He demanded an investigation into the floods and the resignation of the Irrigation Minister and the suspension of the department’s Secretary, Krishan Kumar.
4. Uproar over the Chief Minister’s illness: When Bajwa said the Chief Minister was hospitalized on the day of the PM’s visit, the ruling party called it a “mockery of illness.” Harpal Cheema accused the Congress of acting as an agent of the BJP.

5. Accusing the central government of unfairness, the irrigation minister said that the central government provided only ₹1,600 crore (₹16 billion) instead of the ₹20,000 crore (₹20 billion). He also alleged that the prime minister did not even give the chief minister an appointment.
6. CM questions weather department’s forecast: Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann questioned the weather department’s functioning, calling its forecast wrong and said, “It would have been better if we had checked the weather on Google.”
7. CM’s jibe at Rahul Gandhi’s security: The CM said that Rahul Gandhi was given Z+ security during the floods and was stopped due to the strong flow of the Ravi River. He quipped, “If he had been swept away, they would have said that Rahul Gandhi was sent to Pakistan.”
8. ‘Helicopter riders put in bamboo carts’: AAP MLA Sherry Kalsi said that his government’s leaders worked on the ground during the floods, while those in previous governments toured by helicopter. “We put helicopter riders in bamboo carts,” he said.
