A crucial cabinet meeting was held in Dehradun on Wednesday (May 13) under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at the Vishwakarma Bhawan in the Secretariat. The meeting witnessed detailed discussions on key departments including health, tourism, and transport.
Nursing Recruitment Protest Remains a Key Concern
The most closely watched issue during the Cabinet Meeting was the ongoing nursing recruitment protest in the state. Candidates have been protesting in Dehradun for more than 160 days, demanding year-wise recruitment and filling of vacant posts. Political discussions suggest that the government may consider a major decision on recruitment, which could bring relief to the protesting candidates.

Focus on Char Dham Yatra and Kumbh Preparations
The Cabinet Meeting also reviewed preparations for the upcoming Char Dham Yatra, focusing on traffic management, infrastructure improvements, and pilgrim safety. In addition, early planning and policy discussions were held regarding the upcoming Kumbh Mela to ensure smooth organization and crowd control.
CM Dhami’s Smaller Convoy Draws Attention
Another notable highlight was Chief Minister Dhami traveling with a reduced convoy of just five vehicles, including security escorts. Earlier, his convoy used to include 8 to 10 vehicles. This move is being seen as aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal for fuel conservation and responsible resource usage.
Agriculture Minister Reaches on Electric Scooter
In a symbolic gesture promoting clean energy, Agriculture Minister Ganesh Joshi arrived at the Secretariat on an electric scooter. This move highlighted the government’s push towards sustainable and alternative energy sources. Other ministers including Madan Kaushik, Subodh Uniyal, and Ram Singh Kaira were also present in the meeting.
