Sh TVSN Prasad, the chief secretary of Haryana, presided over a video conference meeting today with all divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners to discuss the state’s flood management plans in advance of the monsoon season. He reaffirmed the state government’s dedication to safeguarding public safety and preventing water logging issues.
Chief Secretary Sh TVSN Prasad gave the order during the meeting to get rid of channels and drains as quickly as possible throughout the entire state in order to prepare for the monsoon season.
In order to reduce the risk of flooding, he underlined the urgent necessity to locate susceptible locations and set up necessary machinery like generators and pumping machines. Sh TVSN Prasad emphasized that police need to make sure these steps are carried out efficiently and kept up-to-date.
Emphasizing the value of prompt implementation, the Chief Secretary gave Deputy Commissioners direct authority to supervise flood control projects in order to prevent any delays that would cause residents to be inconvenienced. He guaranteed that districts will receive sufficient financing for all-encompassing flood management plans.
Furthermore, it was revealed in the conference that districts have been assigned to the Chief Engineers of the Public Health Engineering Department to oversee flood control initiatives directly. They have been assigned the responsibility of carrying out preventive measures and on-site inspections in susceptible areas to avoid waterlogging during the monsoon season.
In addition, the Department of Urban Local Bodies provided an update on its recent campaign in April and May, which effectively cleared significant urban drains to improve flood resistance.
As the conference came to an end, Sh TVSN Prasad emphasized that any officials found to be abdicating their duties in carrying out flood control measures will face severe disciplinary action.
The meeting was also attended by senior officers from the irrigation and public health departments, including Sh. A.K. Singh, Additional Chief Secretary, Public Health Engineering; Sh.
