Under the leadership of CM Bhajan Lal Sharma, the Government of Rajasthan is working dedicatedly for the empowerment of farmers and all-round development of the agriculture sector. Schemes like fencing, farm ponds, irrigation pipelines and micro-irrigation have been implemented at the ground level by the state government to realise the goal of doubling farmers’ income.
The state government has given a grant for the construction of 32,164 farm ponds on the fields of farmers. Whereas in the entire five years of the previous government, only 29,430 farm pounds were given as grants. In the last one and a half years, farmers have been given subsidy for the construction of 7,465 diggis. To prevent wastage of water from wells to fields, a grant of Rs. 53.89 crore was given by laying 25,787 km of irrigation pipelines. Under the pipeline scheme, more than 77 thousand farmers have been benefited in the first one and a half years of the present government, while only 41 thousand 608 farmers were benefited in the first one and a half years of the previous government. For the protection of crops from animals, a grant of Rs 286 crore was distributed by fencing 25,400 km. In the five years of the previous government, grants were given only for 11,300 km of fencing.
From soil health to natural farming, focus on every aspect
During the tenure of the present Government, 12.86 lakh Soil Health Cards have been distributed to the farmers. Natural farming has been promoted by setting up 37,911 vermi compost units. Free seed mini kits have been provided to 50.87 lakh women farmers to make them self-reliant.
Solar energy and drip irrigation have increased production, reduced costs
A grant of Rs. 650.95 crore has been given by the State Government by installing 41,690 solar pump sets. Farmers have received a grant of Rs. 713.58 crore by implementing drip and mini-simpercolor system in 1,40,217 hectares and Rs. 193.26 crore by installing sprinkler sets in 1,73,786 hectares.
Increasing income from protected cultivation, green house and onion storage facility
A total of 1,24 farmers have been benefitted with an amount of Rs. 142.39 crore by setting up green houses in an area of 33.22 lakh square meters. 187 farmers have received a grant of Rs. 25.20 crore by setting up shednet houses in an area of 9.17 lakh square meters. 4,843 farmers have received assistance of Rs. 7.64 crore by adopting plastic manure mulching in 4,82 hectares. A grant of Rs. 40.75 crore has been provided for setting up 2,100 Onion Warehouses for storage of Onions.
From Fruit Gardens to New Happiness
The state government has set up new fruit orchards in 2,996 hectares area of fruits like orange, guava, pomegranate, lemon, amla and kinnow. A total of 1,821 farmers have been given a grant of Rs. 6.35 crore.
Promotion of Natural Farming, Organic Prosperity through Govardhan Yojana
According to the Chief Minister’s announcement, farmers cultivating bulls will be given a grant of Rs 30,000 per year. Under the Govardhan Organic Fertilizer Scheme, an assistance of Rs. 10 thousand per farmer is being given for the production of cow dung based organic fertilizer.
The farmer centric schemes of the State Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma are not mere announcements but are bringing positive changes in the lives of the farmers of Rajasthan by becoming a reality on the ground. Subsidy is being given to farmers on improved seeds, soil testing and farm machinery. Also, better market access has been ensured through the e-NAM portal. The agriculture department, research institutes and agricultural universities are also training the farmers. This change embodies the philosophy of Antyodaya, in which the suffering of the last person is the priority of governance.
