A meeting of the Central Advisory Committee (CAC) for the Pradhan Mantri Anusuchit Jaati Abhyuday Yojana (PM-AJAY) was convened today under the chairmanship of Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Dr. Virendra Kumar, who also serves as the CAC Chairperson. The session focused on assessing the scheme’s progress and devising strategies to enhance the socio-economic upliftment of Scheduled Caste (SC) communities across India.

Dr. Virendra Kumar reviewed the scheme’s implementation and underscored its key objectives, emphasizing the holistic socio-economic development of SC-populated villages and beneficiaries.

The meeting was attended by State Cabinet Ministers, senior officials from States and Union Territories, the Chairperson of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes, and representatives from key Union Ministries, including Finance, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Rural Development, Women and Child Development, and NITI Aayog. Committee members acknowledged the scheme’s impact and praised its effectiveness in addressing the needs of SC communities.

The CAC members engaged in detailed discussions on the scheme’s three primary components—Adarsh Gram, Grant-in-Aid, and Hostel development. The critical role of States and Union Territories in implementing these initiatives was highlighted, and the committee recognized the significant progress achieved in these areas.

Further deliberations focused on strategies to expand the scheme’s reach to a larger SC population and enhance its effectiveness. Key priorities included strengthening coordination between States and District authorities, increasing community involvement, ensuring timely execution of projects, and closely monitoring outcomes to maximize impact.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to the comprehensive development of SC communities, Dr. Virendra Kumar stated, “PM-AJAY is pivotal in bridging socio-economic disparities. Through targeted interventions and collaborative efforts, we aim to empower SC individuals and drive inclusive growth.”

The meeting concluded with a collective call to action for all stakeholders to intensify their efforts in achieving the scheme’s objectives and ensuring sustainable development for SC communities nationwide.
