Union Minister Shri Manohar Lal Khattar emphasized that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi envisions a Vikasit Bharat by 2047, with cities playing a key role in achieving this vision. He assured that the Central Government will extend full support to Madhya Pradesh for planned urban development. Shri Khattar made these remarks during a session on ‘Unlocking Land Value,’ organized by the Urban Administration at the Global Investors Summit on Tuesday.

Highlighting Madhya Pradesh’s proactive approach, Shri Khattar noted that three new policies have been introduced to ensure systematic urban development. He stressed the immense potential for growth in the state’s urban areas, particularly in densely populated cities, to ensure balanced progress. Discussing metro projects in Bhopal and Indore, he emphasized the need for planned metro expansion to benefit all communities. He also called for a comprehensive metropolitan development strategy and an accurate assessment of the state’s rising urban population. On urban transportation, he highlighted the Central Government’s focus on environmental sustainability through the Electric Vehicle Policy. He also underscored the importance of reducing carbon emissions and raising awareness about the incentive policy for carbon credits.

Boosting Investment in Urban Development

Urban Development and Housing Minister Shri Kailash Vijayvargiya stated that efforts are being made to enhance revenue sources for urban bodies in Madhya Pradesh. He noted that the newly introduced Integrated Township Policy will contribute to the holistic development of cities. Citing the redevelopment of Hukumchand Mill land in Indore, he announced plans to make cities greener, with incentives for builders and developers who incorporate green spaces into their projects.

The session also covered key policies such as the MP Integrated Policy, Re-densification Strategy, and Madhya Pradesh Housing Redevelopment Policy. Principal Secretary of Urban Administration Shri Sanjay Kumar Shukla assured that administrative officials will hold quarterly discussions with builders and developers to facilitate urban planning. Additionally, he pledged improvements in the single-window clearance system for local bodies to enhance transparency.
