UP CM Yogi Adityanath has said that many farmer-friendly works are being done in the country and the state under the leadership and guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.The work started in 2014 for the welfare of farmers is unprecedented and praiseworthy. The whole world is accepting these works as a model.These include availability of soil health card and improved seeds, linking agriculture with technology, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi etc.Many schemes are included. All these works are being done keeping in mind Chaudhary Charan Singh’s statement that ‘If the farmer is poor, then India cannot become rich’.
To make India prosperous, we will have to make the farmers who provide food prosper. The Chief Minister was addressing the Kisan Samman Diwas program organized on the occasion of the 122nd birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna respected Chaudhary Charan Singh ji at the Vidhan Bhavan premises here today.On this occasion, he paid floral tribute to the statue of Bharat Ratna revered Chaudhary Charan Singh ji and paid his humble tribute to him. The Chief Minister flagged off the tractors after distributing them to 11 farmers under the Chief Minister Krishak Uphar Yojana.
The Chief Minister honoured progressive farmers, farmer producer organisations, distinguished women farmers for highest agricultural productivity, beekeeping, natural farming, horticulture, protected agriculture etc. He also felicitated agricultural entrepreneurs, agricultural scientists and officials associated with stubble management. The Chief Minister said that the Prime Minister gave priority to the issues of farmers by making them a part of India’s political agenda.Today, we are witnessing good results of the steps taken by the Prime Minister to double the income of farmers in the country and the state. In the state, from 1996 to 2017, a total of 95 thousand crore rupees were provided to sugarcane farmers in 22 years.From the year 2017 to the year 2023-24, in a total of 7.5 years, an amount of Rs. 2 lakh 61 thousand crores has been sent to the farmers’ accounts through DBT. The Prime Minister has focused on reducing the cost of agriculture and increasing production. We can make the farmers prosperous through this.
The Chief Minister said that the state is blessed by nature and God. The land of the state is extremely fertile. There are sufficient water resources here. In the last 7 and a half years, irrigation facilities have been provided to 23 lakh hectares of additional land in the stateThe state government has provided free electricity to 14 lakh private tube wells. The state government is providing free electricity to farmers by ensuring availability of two to two and a half thousand crore rupees every year. Work is being done to connect the already installed tubewells in the state with solar panels. This work is also being done under the Pradhan Mantri Kusum Yojana. Many efforts are being made at the central and state government level to provide MSP prices to farmers through procurement and to promote natural farming on priority basis through zero budget farming.
Remembering revered Chaudhary Charan Singh for his work for the country and farmers, the Chief Minister said that the birth anniversary of revered Chaudhary Sahib is being celebrated as Kisan Samman Diwas in the state since the year 2002Today, the food-providing farmers and agricultural scientists working in different fields of agriculture have been honored here. Under the Mukhyamantri Krishak Uphaar Yojana, tractors have been provided to 11 farmers. Shri Shyam Dulare Yadav, a farmer from Gorakhpur has been awarded the first prize for wheat production. He has produced 79 quintals of wheat per hectare of farming. Shri Hemant Kumar of Jalaun has produced 45 quintals of peas per hectare.Mr. Rajendra Kumar of Auraiya has produced 44 quintal 40 kg mustard per hectare. Mr. Nandlal of Pilibhit has produced 90 quintal 20 kg paddy per hectare. Mr. Ram Vachan Singh of Bahraich has produced 80 quintal 64 kg maize per hectareMr. Ram Lagan Singh of Azamgarh has produced 28 quintals 40 kg of urad per hectare. Mr. Kashi Charan Singh of Firozabad has produced 13 quintals of sesame per hectare. The Chief Minister directed the Agriculture Department to take the farming methods of these farmers to Krishi Vigyan Kendras and felicitate them in front of a delegation of farmers there. These farmers should also be made to give speeches to train other farmers.
The Chief Minister said that many farmers of the state are involved in natural farming. Smt. Urmila Devi of Hamirpur district has produced 42 quintals 80 kg of millet per hectare.Mr. Anil Kumar of Gorakhpur has produced 20 quintals of Kodo per hectare. Mr. Subhash of Gorakhpur has produced 30 quintals and 50 kg of Ragi per hectare Mr. Virendra Singh of Gorakhpur has produced 24 quintals and 10 kg of sawa per hectare. The Chief Minister said that today agricultural scientists and distinguished women farmers have also been honored here.Among the women farmers of the special category, Smt. Rajkumari of Lucknow has been honored for beekeeping, Smt. Kalpana for mushroom production, Smt. Babli Verma of Gorakhpur for poultry farming. These farmers have moved from farming to entrepreneurship.This is a very commendable work. He said that today Krishi Vigyan Kendra scientist Mr. Prashant Kumar has also been honoured.
The Chief Minister said that we need to move towards toxin-free farming to reduce the cost of agriculture. We call the earth our mother, we have to take care of its health too. For this, drip irrigation and other new techniques will have to be adopted so that more production can be done with less water. By adopting natural farming system, along with protecting cows, grains free from the harmful effects of chemicals and fertilizers can be produced. It is necessary to provide training and information about this to the farmers.Natural farming is being done on about 1.25 lakh acres of land in the state. There is a need to expand it further so that the future of the coming generations can be bright and secure.
Agriculture is no longer a loss-making deal. If we do farming with honesty, we will get good results.

He said that revered Chaudhary Charan Singh Ji dedicated his entire life to providing excellence in agriculture and serving the farmers. The Prime Minister decided to celebrate Chaudhary Charan Singh Ji’s birth anniversary as Kisan Samman Diwas. He has honoured the farmers of the country by awarding Bharat Ratna to Chaudhary Charan Singh. Many works have been done for the welfare of farmers under the leadership of the Chief Minister in the state. The state ranks first in the country in wheat, sugar and milk production.The state government has worked to increase agricultural irrigation capacity to increase the income of farmers. Under the guidance of the Chief Minister, work has been done to honor farmers on a large scale.
Addressing the program, Agriculture Minister Shri Surya Pratap Shahi said that under the leadership of the Chief Minister, the state has progressed rapidly through innovation in the agriculture sector. Farmers are being provided the benefits of many welfare schemes. Agricultural production in the state has increased by about 18 percent in the last few years.
