UP CM Yogi Adityanath distributes flats to 72 EWS beneficiaries on land reclaimed from mafia-politician Mukhtar Ansari in Lucknow under the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Housing Scheme.
Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday handed over flats to 72 beneficiaries from the Economic Weaker Section (EWS), built on land recovered from the illegal possession of mafia-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari in Dalibagh, Lucknow. The key distribution ceremony was held at Ekta Van, opposite the Director General of Police’s residence.
During the event, CM Yogi Adityanath personally handed over keys to 10 allottees. The flats, constructed under the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Housing Scheme, are valued at Rs 10.70 lakh each. The lottery for allotment was completed on Tuesday, according to officials.

Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) Vice-Chairman Prathamesh Kumar stated that the project reflects the CM’s strict anti-mafia stance. The reclaimed land of approximately 2,322 square meters was used to build three G+3 blocks, housing 72 flats, each measuring 36.65 square meters. The online registration for the scheme, open from October 4 to November 3, received nearly 8,000 applications.
Mukhtar Ansari, 63, a five-time MLA from Mau Sadar and a jailed gangster-turned-politician, passed away on March 28, 2024, due to cardiac arrest in Banda, Uttar Pradesh. Ansari faced over 60 criminal cases, with convictions in eight cases by September 2022, and was serving sentences in UP and Punjab.
This housing initiative showcases the Uttar Pradesh government’s commitment to providing homes to EWS beneficiaries while reclaiming illegally occupied land from criminal elements.
