Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday (May 20, 2026) held a high-level review meeting on three key initiatives — Uttar Pradesh Data Centre Cluster (UPDCC), Project Ganga, and policies to boost wheat processing by reducing mandi fee and cess.
UP Data Centre Cluster to power AI mission
During the review of the Uttar Pradesh Data Centre Cluster (UPDCC), Yogi Adityanath said the project will serve as the backbone of the state’s AI mission. He emphasized that the data infrastructure should not remain limited to NCR but expand across Uttar Pradesh.
The Chief Minister directed officials to initiate the project from the Bundelkhand Industrial Development Authority (BIDA) region and engage with major technology companies, including Tata Group, to develop Lucknow as an “AI City.”

Long-term economic blueprint for Uttar Pradesh
Officials informed that the Uttar Pradesh Data Centre Cluster is part of a long-term strategy aimed at transforming the state’s economy over the next 50 years. The plan targets building a $5 trillion economy, creating over 1.5 lakh direct jobs, and developing a 5 GW AI compute corridor by 2040 under the vision of Yogi Adityanath.
The initiative also aligns with global growth sectors like AI, cloud computing, cybersecurity, semiconductors, EVs, robotics, and space technology.
Project Ganga to boost rural digital connectivity
The Chief Minister also reviewed “Project Ganga” (Government Assisted Network for Growth and Advancement). Yogi Adityanath directed officials to ensure quality training for selected digital entrepreneurs and enable their participation in survey and digital service operations.
Project Ganga aims to expand optical fibre connectivity across rural Uttar Pradesh and promote digital services like telemedicine, e-education, skill development, and e-governance. The project targets connecting over 20 lakh homes and creating more than 10,000 Digital Service Providers, generating over 1 lakh indirect jobs.
Focus on women entrepreneurs and transparency
Under Project Ganga, around 50% participation is targeted from women entrepreneurs, strengthening digital inclusion. Yogi Adityanath stressed transparency, fast execution, and incentives for digital entrepreneurs from the beginning.
