UP NEWS : On the occasion of the birth anniversary of the first Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant ji, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid floral tributes on behalf of the people of the state in Gorakhpur today. Later, addressing the media persons, the Chief Minister said that Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant was a great freedom fighter and a true son of Mother India. Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant was born in Almora of present Uttarakhand. He played an important role in the then United Provinces, independent India and as the first Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh after the first general elections of the country.
The Chief Minister said that there were many challenges at that time due to hundreds of years of slavery. The system was in disarray. Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant ji took many positive steps to correct the system and to take Uttar Pradesh to the forefront of development. Pant ji played an unforgettable role in formulating the development plan of Uttar Pradesh.
The Chief Minister said that after serving as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Pant got the opportunity to serve as the Home Minister of the country in the year 1954. While in this position, he made commendable efforts for the Official Language Hindi and furthered the efforts made by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel for the unity and integrity of the country.
