UP NEWS :The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the newly constructed Auditorium, Academic Building, Panchakarma Centre and laid the foundation stone of the New Girls Hostel at Mahayogi Gorakhnath University, Gorakhpur today. Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath were also present on the occasion. The President released the ‘Formulary’ and ‘Sankalpasiddhi-MGUG Policy Compendium 1.0’ of the University and also planted saplings under the ‘Ek Tree Maa Ke Naam’ campaign.
The President complimented the University for carrying forward the tradition of Gorakhnath Math. Describing the Panchakarma system of medicine as effective, he expressed confidence that the new Panchakarma centre and academic building would be useful for students and teachers. He highlighted the role of hostels in the education of girl students and termed the construction of new girls hostels as a step to encourage higher education for girls.
The President said that under the National Education Policy-2020, the role of private educational institutions is important. Mahayogi Gorakhnath University is the first private institution to promote higher education in Purvanchal. He described Maharana Pratap’s patriotism and sacrifice as a source of inspiration and praised the efforts of Gorakshpeeth and Maharana Pratap Shiksha Parishad.
The President hoped that the students of the University would not only acquire professional competence but also imbibe patriotic and spiritual values. He said that the University, encompassing both Allopathy and Ayurveda, has adopted a holistic approach to medicine. A new 1800-bed hospital and a 200-bed Ayurvedic hospital will also be available soon.
He also informed that the University has initiated collaboration with several national and international institutions in areas such as agricultural research, rural development, entrepreneurship and botanical research.
Governor Anandiben Patel highlighted the historical and religious significance of Gorakhpur and said that this land is the tapobhumi of Nath sect. He said that the inauguration of works today is a big step towards health and women empowerment.
Welcoming the President, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath described him as an inspiration of mother power. He said that the President has given priority to social service and nation building even in difficult circumstances. The President participated in a series of programmes in Bareilly and Gorakhpur and also interacted with students. This is the first time that a President has gone out on the streets to interact with students.
The Chief Minister informed that Mahayogi Gorakhnath University is imparting education and promoting research in areas like allopathy, ayurveda, pharmacy, paramedical, nursing and agriculture. Highlighting the education, health and service work of Maharana Pratap Shiksha Parishad and Gorakshpeeth, he said that the Parishad was established in 1932 and is running more than 52 institutions today.
He described Ayurvedic Panchakarma as an effective system of medicine and said that with the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, this system is gaining respect in the country and the world. The Chief Minister thanked the President for the auditorium and girls hostel of the university.
Several ministers of the state government, vice-chancellors of universities, chairman of Gallant India Chandra Prakash Agarwal and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
