UTTARAKHAND CM DHAMI : The Chief Minister celebrated Egas with public representatives, various organizations, family members and general public. The Chief Minister celebrated Egas by playing Bhelo to the beat of Dhol Damau.
On Tuesday, Lok Parva Egas was celebrated with utmost simplicity at the Chief Minister’s residence. After offering prayers and reciting Sunderkand, the Chief Minister wished for happiness, peace and prosperity in the state. On the occasion of Egas festival, he worshiped Bhelo and also played Bhelo. During this time he also played Dhol Damau.

He said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has also congratulated all the people of the state for IGAS. The Prime Minister has a special attachment to Uttarakhand that he himself participated in the Igas festival. He said that the Prime Minister has always promoted the folk festivals and culture of Uttarakhand.
The Chief Minister said that folk culture and folk tradition are the identity of Devbhoomi. The festival of Igas is very special for us. To bring this folk festival to the masses, a tradition of public holiday has also been started in the last few years.
He said that in the recently held Pravasi Uttarakhandi Sammelan, he had also urged the people of Uttarakhand abroad to go to their villages and celebrate the folk festival.
The Chief Minister said that in his address on the State Foundation Day, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi had urged the people of Uttarakhand to preserve their dialect and connect with the villages. On the festival of Egas, we have to take a pledge to connect with our village and preserve the language and folk festivals.
