Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed profound sorrow over the tragic death of three family members in a car accident in Chamoli district. The accident, which also left a young boy seriously injured, occurred on the Gopeshwar-Pokhari road in Pokhari development block.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), CM Dhami wrote, “The untimely loss of three members of the same family from Pab village in Chamoli district, and the severe injury of a young boy, is heart-wrenching. May God grant the departed souls eternal peace and provide the grieving family with strength to bear this immense sorrow.”

Tragic Car Accident Details

The accident occurred late on Wednesday night when the vehicle, carrying five passengers, veered off the road and plunged into a deep gorge. The victims were en route to attend a wedding ceremony at Pavki Devi Nai when the tragedy struck. Three people lost their lives on the spot, and two others sustained serious injuries.

SDRF’s Timely and Challenging Rescue Operation

Upon receiving the distress alert, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) immediately responded, dispatching a rescue team with the necessary equipment. Despite the difficult terrain and nighttime conditions, the SDRF team, along with local police, launched a strenuous overnight rescue mission.

The team worked tirelessly throughout the night to retrieve the bodies of the deceased and rescue the injured victims from the gorge. The two survivors were transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were handed over to the district police for further formalities.
