Ten drinking water projects in Uttarakhand that will be developed in the first phase with funding from the World Bank have been proposed by the Uttarakhand government to the Center for approval. These projects are part of a larger ₹1200 crore drinking water initiative aimed at strengthening water supply infrastructure across the state.

Officials confirmed that the Uttarakhand drinking water projects are being developed under World Bank financing norms, which require a portion of the work to begin at the state level before full implementation. For this purpose, projects worth around ₹450 crore have been identified for the initial phase.
The proposal has now been submitted to the central government for approval, which is expected soon. After clearance, the plan will be reviewed by a high-powered committee for further decisions.
Locations Covered Under Uttarakhand Drinking Water Projects
The proposed Uttarakhand drinking water projects include several key regions such as Selakui, Ramapur and Padli Gujjar in Roorkee, Bageshwar, Rani Pokhri Mauja and Rani Pokhri Grant, Bhawali, Bhimtal, Gopeshwar, Haldwani distribution system, and Pashulok in Rishikesh.
These projects include one distribution system and nine dedicated drinking water supply schemes aimed at improving water availability in both urban and rural areas.
Phase-Wise Implementation of Uttarakhand Drinking Water Projects
According to officials, the Uttarakhand drinking water projects will be implemented in phases. Once the first set of projects receives approval and construction begins, additional schemes will be identified and included in the next phase of development.
