In a significant move to boost scientific education and innovation among youth, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami conducted an on-site inspection of the under-construction Champawat Science Centre, a state-of-the-art facility being developed at a cost of Rs 55.52 crore. The inspection highlighted the project’s potential to nurture research, innovation, and scientific learning, especially for students in remote areas of the state.
Modern Facilities for Students and Researchers
During his visit, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami reviewed the quality, progress, and design of the four-storey Science Centre, which will include scientific galleries, a planetarium, a 120-seat auditorium, staff quarters, and a hostel accommodating 40 students. The Chief Minister emphasized that the Pushkar Singh Dhami Science Centre will become a residential hub for scientific education, giving students hands-on experience in modern technologies and astronomy.
The Director General of UCOST, Durgesh Pant, explained that the Science Centre will feature a “Fun Science Gallery,” science and agriculture exhibition halls, training facilities, and a modern astronomy gallery with inner and outer domes. CM Pushkar Singh Dhami also encouraged the young innovators by reviewing science models prepared by local school students during his visit.

CM Pushkar Singh Dhami directed the executing agency to ensure that the construction of the Science Centre is completed on time while maintaining top-quality standards. He also stressed strict adherence to environmental norms and safety protocols during construction, ensuring both sustainable development and worker protection.
