V.K. Janjua : ADCs will install boards at all Sewa Kendras displaying the list of notified services available.

A crucial meeting was conducted by V.K. Janjua , Chief Commissioner of the Punjab Transparency and Accountability Commission, with all Additional Deputy Commissioners (General) (ADCs) of Punjab to discuss the prompt delivery of services under the Punjab Transparency and Accountability Act. Dr. Nayan Jassal, Secretary of PBTRAC, also attended the meeting.

V.K. Janjua emphasized the vital role of ADCs as Appellate Authorities under the Act. He explained that citizens can appeal to the ADCs, who also have the power to take suo-motu action against any official found delaying or denying services. He further highlighted that ADCs can impose penalties of up to Rs. 5,000 on officials responsible for causing delays in public services.

During the meeting, a PowerPoint presentation was presented, highlighting the important role of ADCs in ensuring the effective delivery of government services at the district level. V.K. Janjua directed all ADCs to submit monthly reports to the Commission, detailing the backlog of all notified services in their districts. He also instructed the ADCs to provide monthly reports on the actions taken by their office against officials who have not met service deadlines.

To increase public awareness, V.K. Janjua also instructed the ADCs to install boards at all Sewa Kendras displaying the list of available notified services, along with the contact details of the designated officials and appellate officers for each service.

This holistic approach aims to improve transparency, accountability, and responsiveness in the delivery of public services throughout Punjab, reinforcing the government’s commitment to efficient governance.
