As part of its ongoing anti-corruption campaign, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) has apprehended Satinder Kumar, an Assistant in the Emergency Ward of Civil Hospital, Ludhiana, while accepting a ₹7,000 bribe.
According to a Vigilance Bureau spokesperson, the arrest was made following a complaint by Vijay Kumar, a resident of Jassal Colony, Ludhiana. The complainant alleged that the accused had demanded ₹10,000 for issuing a receipt related to a medico-legal report. He further stated that ₹3,000 had already been paid, and the accused was now demanding the remaining amount.
Following a preliminary inquiry, a Vigilance Bureau team from the Economic Offences Wing, Ludhiana, set up a trap and caught the accused red-handed while accepting the bribe in the presence of two official witnesses. A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against Satinder Kumar at the Vigilance Bureau Police Station, Ludhiana, and further investigation is underway.
