Punjab Vigilance Bureau Nabs FCI Quality Control Manager for Accepting ₹50,000 Bribe
As part of its ongoing anti-corruption drive, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) arrested Vikas Kumar, Quality Control Manager at the Food Storage Depot of the Fo od Corporation of India (FCI), Patiala, for demanding and accepting a ₹50,000 bribe.
An official Vigilance Bureau spokesperson revealed that the arrest followed a complaint by a rice mill owner from Bhunarheri, Patiala district. The complainant alleged that the FCI officer had demanded ₹1 lakh in exchange for facilitating the storage of rice processed from paddy purchased by Markfed.
After verifying the complaint, the VB team set a trap and caught the accused red-handed while accepting the bribe in the presence of two official witnesses. A case has been registered against him at the Vigilance Bureau Police Station, Patiala Range. The accused will be presented before the court tomorrow, and further investigation is underway.
