Vijaya K. Rahatkar : Cooperative Minister Shri Gautam Dak also participated
Smt.Vijaya K.Rahatkar, Chairperson, National Commission for Women said that cooperatives have become synonymous with empowerment by embarking on a journey of movement, revolution with an idea. Participation of women is a must. The concept of cooperatives has been strengthened by the cooperation of women.
Vijaya K. Rahatkar was speaking as the keynote speaker at a lecture program on the role of women, youth and farmers in cooperatives at the dairy plant premises of Udaipur Milk Producers Union at Govardhan Vilas in Udaipur on Monday evening. He said the idea of cooperatives mobilised farmers in the freedom movement. After this, the idea turned into a movement and a revolution. At present, it has become a strong base. The United Nations has declared 2025 as the Year of Cooperatives.This shows the importance of cooperation. The Government has set up a separate Ministry of Cooperation to strengthen the spirit of cooperation. To strengthen the cooperative societies, they were made multi-purpose committee. Cooperatives are doing many works in the interest of farmers and cattle rearers by connecting them with information technology. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the country is moving fast towards realising the resolve of a developed nation. Cooperation plays an important role here. At present, every fifth person in the country is associated with a cooperative society. People’s faith in cooperative banks has increased. This is the reason that today the deposits in cooperative banks are more than 12 thousand crores.
Vijaya K. Rahatkar said that women are also at the forefront of cooperatives. There are many such tasks that women handle, including dairy business, animal husbandry, beekeeping. He gave examples of great work being done by women across the country and called for encouraging the same in Rajasthan.
An important participation in the cooperation of the public –
Speaking on the occasion, Minister of State for Cooperation Shri Gautam Dak said that the intention of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Union Home and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah is to bring prosperity through cooperation in the country. Community participation is important. Chief Minister Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma has taken effective and welcome steps to increase the participation of women in the cooperative sector. He said that every possible effort is being made by the Prime Minister to enrich the farmers of the country, while the state government has also tried to empower the farming community through various schemes.
He said that every possible effort is being made at the department level to stop the irregularities in the cooperative societies and to provide justice to the victim. Mr. Dak said that in the new cooperative code, the suggestions of all the stakeholders including the leaders of the opposition parties have been taken. Udaipur Lok Sabha MP Dr Mannalal Rawat and rural MLA Phool Singh Meena also addressed the lecture programme.
