Urban Local Bodies Minister Shri Vipul Goel held a detailed review meeting regarding monsoon preparations and directed officials to ensure that all arrangements are completed before the arrival of the rainy season. The main objective is to prevent any inconvenience to citizens due to waterlogging. The minister emphasized that monsoon preparations must be executed in a timely and efficient manner across all concerned departments.
Focus on Gurugram, Faridabad, and Manesar
During the meeting, special emphasis was laid on Gurugram, Faridabad, and Manesar. The minister instructed that monsoon preparations in these major urban areas should include urgent improvements in drainage and sewerage systems. He stressed the importance of identifying waterlogging hotspots in advance to ensure quick action during heavy rainfall.
Officials were told that coordinated efforts are essential to strengthen monsoon preparations in these cities, where urban flooding has been a recurring issue.
Drainage and Sewerage System Upgradation
Vipul Goel directed the concerned departments to immediately work on improving drainage and sewerage infrastructure. As part of monsoon preparations, all weak points in the system must be repaired and upgraded to avoid any blockage during rainfall.
He also highlighted that proper maintenance of stormwater drains is a crucial part of effective monsoon preparations.

Pumping Machinery and Waterlogging Control Measures
The minister instructed officials to ensure adequate availability of pumping machines in all vulnerable areas. Under monsoon preparations, quick-response mechanisms should be established so that water can be drained immediately from flooded locations.
He further stated that identifying waterlogging hotspots in advance and deploying machinery there is a key step in strengthening monsoon preparations.
Time-Bound Execution and Coordination
Vipul Goel emphasized the need for time-bound implementation of all works. He said that delays in monsoon preparations could lead to serious inconvenience for citizens during heavy rains.
He directed all departments, including municipal corporations and drainage authorities, to work in close coordination to ensure smooth execution of monsoon preparations.
