Vivek Agnihotri Blasts Anurag Kashyap’s Work Habits During Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal Production
Controversial filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri, known for his hard-hitting movies like The Kashmir Files and The Tashkent Files, recently opened up about his experience working with Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane on the 2007 film Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal. In an interview with Digital Commentary, Agnihotri recalled the challenges of collaborating with Kashyap, particularly citing his alcoholism at the time, which made it difficult to work with him.
Agnihotri explained that Anurag Kashyap, who was writing the script for Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal, had a different vision for the film, and their creative differences led to friction on set. He also claimed that Kashyap, who was reportedly struggling with alcohol addiction, ended up delegating much of his work to Vikramaditya Motwane, who Agnihotri described as “very talented.”
“I couldn’t trust Anurag Kashyap back then because he was a heavy drinker,” Agnihotri said. “He couldn’t handle his responsibilities, so he brought Vikram Motwane on board, saying ‘Mera naya ladka hai woh kaam karega.’ But gradually, Anurag Kashyap palmed off all the work to Vikram. Their vision for the film didn’t match mine, and we ended up clashing.”
Agnihotri also touched on his strained relationship with Kashyap, attributing their differences to the filmmaker’s mental state at the time. “Only an alcoholic knows what an alcoholic goes through,” Agnihotri added, referring to Kashyap’s behavior during the film’s production. Despite their personal conflicts, Agnihotri confirmed that their interactions have been cordial when they’ve met in the years since.
Anurag Kashyap’s views on the Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal production have also been shared by Vikramaditya Motwane, who wrote the original script for the film. In a previous interview, Motwane described the script he and Kashyap wrote as one of his best works, but he admitted that the final film did not align with their vision.
Despite the setbacks on set, the film was completed and released, with John Abraham and Bipasha Basu leading the cast. Agnihotri’s comments shed light on the tumultuous behind-the-scenes dynamics of the film industry and the challenges faced when collaborating with people whose personal issues affect professional work.
